
North Kingstown schoolchildren will have a snow day tomorrow. And so will members of the North Kingstown School Committee and anyone else planning to go to Tuesday night’s meeting.
The blizzard that is expected to dump anywhere from 1 to 3 feet of snow on Rhode Island has arrived a bit earlier than expected and had already begun to accumulate in South County by noon.
The nor’easter arrived at the coast at around 10 a.m., prompting the South Kingstown school district to call for a one-hour early dismissal as the flakes began to fall.

There will be no afternoon after-school activities in North Kingstown Monday night, as well, giving families time to get home and hunker down for what the National Weather Service is describing as an historic storm.
Also announcing a closure is the North Kingstown Free Library, which will be closed Wednesday, according to the Rhode Island Broadcasters closings and cancellations website.
