SnapDragon Baseball - RI's Newest Baseball Indoor Facility
SnapDragon Baseball - Batting cages, professional coaching, including a former Red Sox , and the drive to promote the game of baseball.
There have been rumors swirling around Southern RI baseball circles for months about a new baseball facility to be located somewhere in South County and/or North Kingstown. A facility to feature batting cages, baseball training equipment, plenty of space for infield, catching drills, and professional coaching. With the weather being so up and down this baseball season, the luxury of having such a baseball facility would be incredible. Well, those rumors were true and the reality is called The SnapDragon Baseball Facility.
Located at 560 South County Trail in Exeter is Southern RI's newest baseball resource for our RI baseball community, SnapDragon Baseball. Just up the hill, with plenty of parking, SnapDragon is an ideal indoor location for teams, Little Leagues, and baseball families located here in Southern RI. Founded and run by Sean Catero and Jeremy Reposa, SnapDragon baseball features about 4800 square feet of space for baseball activities. When I visited, there were 4 individual batting/pitching cages set up. The goal, according to Sean and Jeremy, is to divide 2 of those cages in half to give the facility 4 designated hitting cages, and leave 2 full cages specifically for pitching drills and instruction. The hitting cages can be used for either live pitching, with adequate equipment on site such as "L" screens or with a pitching machine. Sean, who is the acting President of South Kingstown Little League, mentioned that as recent as this past week, a District team came in and used the facility to its full potential. "Players were hitting off the "T" over there into the netting, we had live pitching in there, there was a lot of energy in this building."
Jeremy's son, JD, hopped into one of the cages and took some live batting practice while I was there. Jeremy has been coaching baseball for well over 10 years. "From T-ball to AAU clubs, I have worked with kids for years on the fundamentals of the game, and to increase their enjoyment of the game of baseball," stated Jeremy as he was firing in fastballs to his son. "We wanted to give RI baseball players the opportunity to work on their skills year round. This will keep their skills and minds thinking baseball all year, not just a few short months in the spring."

I noticed a framed Boston Red Sox jersey behind the desk and had to inquire. "We are so thrilled to have Lenny Dinardo on staff to assist our community with pitching development," said Sean. He carried the framed jersey out for me to see and photograph. Having the knowledge of pitching at a very high level and the expertise to be a Major League pitcher, Dinardo is sure to be a huge draw for SnapDragon baseball. Coach Dinardo is available upon request for coaching and pitching instructions.
The SnapDragon Baseball Facility was clean, easy to get to, and had a very positive atmosphere. It has plenty of space for a travel team, local high school team, or if you and your coach want to get in some batting practice on a rainy day. There have tons of baseball training equipment - mounds, T's, L-Screens - for a small to large size baseball team. Batting cage rentals are very affordable - $20/half hour or $40/hour of usage. Team rates are available upon request. You can even apply for a yearly membership. For more information about rates, membership, clinics, and more call SnapDragon Baseball at 401-862-6764 or log onto their Facebook page - SnapDragon Baseball. From all of us in the RI baseball community, best wishes to SnapDragon baseball.
