Splish Splash! YMCA To Offer Free Water Safety Seminar

In the wake of two recent drowning deaths in the area, the YMCA of Greater Providence announced that it will offer free community water safety seminars through each of its seven full-service branches.

A leader in providing quality swim instruction and aquatics programs to children and adults all year long, the Y wants to make sure that families are prepared for activities in and around the water this summer.

“The recent drowning incidents in our area have been a wake up call that we need to do even more to make sure everyone is safe whether at the pool or the beach,” said Karen Leslie, President & CEO of the YMCA of Greater Providence. “During the next month, we have added free swim programs at each of our branches to help prevent another tragedy from occurring.”

The free seminars will include information on creating a safe physical environment, around pools, monitoring and supervising pool activities, visiting parks, beaches, and community pools, and preventing a drowning.

Each branch of the YMCA of Greater Providence will offer at least two Community Water Safety Seminars during the month of July.

Seminars at the will be held on:

Tuesday, July 12 from 6:00-7:15 p.m.
Thursday, July 14 from 8:30-9:45 a.m.*
