State: Yacht Club Beach OK For Swimming

The beach can re-open, the state said Monday.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI —Saunderstown Yacht Club in North Kingstown can re-open for swimming, the state health department said Monday. The beach had been closed because of high bacteria counts.

Kent County YMCA Upper and Lower Ponds in Warwick and Camp Cookie in Glocester remain closed due to continuing high bacteria counts. Bristol Town Beach is also closed due to a sewer line leak. When a beach closure is recommended, water quality analysis is conducted by RIDOH's laboratory or a state-certified laboratory. The status of a beach may change daily.
