Swarthmore College Student Dies in Skateboard Accident
A 19-year-old from North Kingstown has died after a skateboard accident at college, according to WjAR and Associated Press.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—Valerie Smith, president of Swarthmore College near Philadelphia, has notified students about the loss of Sam Jenkins, 19. According to Associated Press and WJAR-TV, he died Sunday at a hospital. The news story was originally reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Jenkins was injured Friday in a skateboard accident on campus, the news reports indicated.
According to the college president's message, a memorial service is being planned.

Jenkins was originally from North Kingstown and lived in Wickford. He was graduated from LaSalle Academy, where he played hockey. He continued hockey in college as the goalie.
He leaves his parents, Joe and Stacey, and two sisters, Maddie and Nora.
