North Kingstown (Wickford) has been a part of this National Park Service program since 1986. The program is designed to encourage and provide funding and access to funding for activities that include: architectural, historical, archaeological surveys; nominations to the National Register of Historic Places; staff work for historic preservation commissions; design guidelines and preservation plans; public outreach materials such as publications, videos, exhibits, and brochures; training for commission members and staff; and rehabilitation or restoration of National Reigster listed properties.
