Wickford Little League Volunteers Pitch Perfect Game on Sunday

Volunteers of Wickford Little League gathered for Field Day at Wilson Park. Their efforts helped get the fields ready to Opening Day, 2017.

Sunday, April 2nd produced one of the greatest results in the storied history of Wickford Little League. There were no grand slams hit nor perfect games pitched. Instead, roughly 50 volunteers - parents, Wickford Little League players past and present - gathered at Wilson Park to prepare their fields for the 2017 Spring Season. Some of the volunteers were from the landscaping and construction business, with expertise on laying turf, fixing batting cage fences, and driving really cool Bobcat machines. Others, normally in charge of their office or school, simply took direction and did what they could. Kids helped shovel and rake up leaves. Parents hung up sponsor banners in the outfield. Others cleaned up the dugouts and fields. There was raking and painting and connecting fences and other general cleanup duties. All done with a smile and an enthusiasm and a pride in their facilities, their fields, their baseball parks at Wilson Park. For those of you who attended and helped out on Field Day, from all of us on the Executive Board of Wickford Little League, thank you very much.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next Saturday, April 8th for the Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies.

Go Wickford!!!
