• North Smithfield Adds Kindergarten Teacher, Sets PFAS Forum (upriseri.com) — North Smithfield parents should know that an extra kindergarten teacher has been added midyear, bringing class sizes down to about 18–19 students without raising the current budget. The School Committee also set a special Oct. 6, 6 p.m. forum on PFAS and water quality at the middle/high school campus, and heard Superintendent David Raleigh's first-year goals on instruction, safety, and communication.
   

• Sports must go on, even as storm bears down on RI. Here are the scores (newportri.com) — North Smithfield girls soccer picked up a strong Division II win over Lincoln School, with sophomore Brynn Santos scoring twice and classmates assisting to move the Northmen to 6-1-2. Local fans can also catch more action as North Smithfield hosts Ponaganset in girls volleyball at 6 p.m., while other Rhode Island teams battle through a busy slate of soccer, field hockey, tennis, and football.
