Prowlers Caught On Video Stealing Guns From Vacant North Smithfield Home: Cops

The home has been unoccupied since the death of the resident, police said.

NORTH SMITHFIELD, RI — A pair of prowlers were caught in surveillance video stealing guns from a vacant Smithfield home, police said.

The men broke into the Mount Pleasant Avenue home between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Thursday, the North Smithfield Police Department said in a social media post.

"The home has been unoccupied following the death of the resident," the post said.

"According to the next of kin, several firearms were stolen during the burglary, including a shotgun and a rifle," the post said. "The exact number and types of firearms are still being determined."

The two men were captured on surveillance video, one with an uncovered face, according to the post.

While the other man's face was covered, he is "believed to have distinctive knuckle tattoos," the post said.
