  1. The American Civil Liberties Union recently sent a letter to the leaders of Cranston, Woonsocket, and Pawtucket, calling on them to stop using the recently installed traffic cameras. The organization said that the cameras are a privacy concern, as they were installed with no public notice or guidance. Cranston City Council members met to discuss the cameras following the ACLU's letter. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
  2. Pawtucket couple Lisbeth Avalos-Irving and Roberto Irving shared their harrowing story of trying to get home to their terminally-ill dog, Daisy, after they got caught in New Orleans during Hurricane Ida. The couple was celebrating their wedding anniversary with a long weekend trip to NOLA when the hurricane canceled all flights out of the area, leaving them stranded in the city. Fortunately, a local woman offered to drive the Irvings to Atlanta so they could fly back to Rhode Island and be with Daisy before she passed. (Hattiesburg American)
  3. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that the Providence Country unemployment rate increased to 6.4 percent in July, compared to Rhode Island's overall rate of 5.8 percent. (Pawtucket Patch)
  4. A 67-year-old man was struck by a car on Pawtucket Avenue between Mountain Avenue and Crown Avenue in East Providence on Sunday. The victim was brought to the hospital and suffered moderate injuries. (WJAR)
  5. Police found a woman's body in the Woonasquatucket River in Providence on Monday morning. Her death is not believed to be suspicious. (The Providence Journal)
