
On Sunday August 11, a series of fun events will be centered around the Green Animals property in Portsmouth to celebrate the town’s 375th anniversary. The Preservation Society of Newport County has graciously allowed all Portsmouth residents to tour the Green Animals gardens for free, with it topiary animals and the historic house, from 9-5 p.m.
Located at the end of Cory’s Lane is a seldom used train stop, once the site of a small train station.
On that day The 375th Express will be there at 1:30 and 3:00 to pick up passengers for a round trip ride along the Portsmouth shoreline. On board ticketholders will get a drink and sundae on this special Sundae run of the Newport Dinner Train.

With many thanks to the train owners the tickets have been greatly reduced for the 375th event. The prices are:

Also that day, the noted N.Y. Times bestselling author, Ann Hood, will sign and sell her children and adult books on the porch of the home from 12-3. Â She has written the biography series for children entitled The Treasure Chest which includes 4 titles and is also the author of best selling books of fiction including Somewhere off the Coast of Maine, The Knitting Circle, The Red Thread and the current fiction title, The Obituary Writer.
The event will be held rain of shine.
