Aladdin, Princess Jasmine Fly into Portsmouth's Little Theater

Thursday night marked the opening of Portsmouth Middle School Drama Club's Aladdin Jr., a musical.

Aladdin Jr., the classic 1992 animated Disney musical, made its stage debut Thursday night at Portsmouth Middle School's Little Theater, preformed by the talented drama club's sixth, seventh and eighth-graders.

Under the direction of Micheal Barcley de Tolley, Portsmouth Middle School music director, the cast of 35 enthusiastic and hard-working actors and actresses belted out "Prince Ali", "Why Me" and "Arabian Nights" among others and took the audience on a "magic carpet ride" complete with smoke machine and strobe lights and one very funny "monkey."

This is a great event for families and kids, and tickets are still available for this weekend's shows, which can be purchased at the door.
