• Stay Out Of North Portsmouth's Lower Melville Pond: State (patch.com) — Portsmouth residents are being urged to stay out of Lower Melville Pond after state health and environmental officials found harmful algae there, making all recreation unsafe. Authorities warn against swimming, boating, fishing, or letting pets near the water, and say even brief contact can cause rashes or illness, while swallowing the water may lead to more serious health effects.
   

• Here are the scores, stats and more from Monday's RI high school games (newportri.com) — Portsmouth athletes are in the mix in Monday's statewide high school action, with the boys soccer team battling Tiverton to a 1–1 draw. Looking ahead, Portsmouth will host East Providence in girls soccer at 6:30 p.m. and a girls tennis match at 4 p.m., plus a home volleyball match against Westerly at 6:45 p.m., giving local fans several chances to cheer tonight.
   

• Dad identifies Middletown crash victim as 1-year-old daughter (wpri.com) — A police pursuit that began in Portsmouth ended tragically in Middletown, where a fiery crash killed a 1-year-old girl and seriously injured two adults. Investigators say the driver fled a Portsmouth traffic stop at up to 90 mph before losing control on West Main Road. The child's father has since visited a growing roadside memorial while the driver faces multiple DUI and endangerment charges.
