It was the horsey set gathered to celebrate the completion of the new Carnegie Abbey Equestrian Center, sited at the Newport Beach Club in Portsmouth, and serving both the equestrians of that Club and the adjacent Carnegie Abbey Club.
 The Club’s new equestrian facilities include both a spacious indoor ring with a spectator-friendly, dust-free surface and a spectacular new outdoor ring. Members may stable their own horses here or use one of the club’s mounts for rides along miles of trails through beautiful wooded areas and along the waters of Narragansett Bay.
The amenities are: stabling for up to 20 horses, Show-quality jumps, turnout pastures for grazing, and full instruction for riders of all levels, impressed the guests. The paddocks overlook the Bay and in the distance, The Tower at

Horses Rio Grande and Wee Willie Winks looked out of their stalls at the merriment, as ownersMargaret Nolan, Kelly Lambrese and Kathryn Gallison talked with other guests. The bold among them tried out the mechanical bull, and members strolled the indoor riding ring, designed to host jumping and dressage competitions.

Wearing cowboy hats and boots were David and Gilda Piccoli, Dr. James Nolan, Blake andMelanie Henderson, Leslie Hogan, Victor Andrade, Ellen Plunkett and Michelle Aumann of The Carnegie Tower, Sharon Cameron Lawn, and John and Hilary Olinger. Youngsters ran about grabbing handfuls of hay and talking to the horses through their stall bars.
Hors d'oeuvres were served out of the tack room. A special touch on the stable doors: brass plaques with the horses' name, and the next line reading 'loved by" -- in front of the owner's name.
