There will also be a fire safety smoke house for children, Smokey Bear and Sparky Fire Dog are expected to make an appearance and refreshments will be served, to boot, thanks to the generous souls who man the Providence Canteen.
The show is sponsored by the Rhode Island chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America.
The local chapter meets regulatory in East Greenwich and the Annual Muster is one their biggest and most-anticipated events every year.
Fire engines are often seen racing up and down the street, their utility and ability to save lives and put out fires appreciated by all. But have you ever looked at them as historical artifacts? Much like that station wagon any child from the 70s or 80s will fondly remember, fire apparatus from the past rekindle memories and demonstrate the unique forms these vehicles have taken over the decades.
RIFAS has about 150 members who own about 90 vehicles in all. It was founded in 2014.
