Summer is fast approaching which means we can no longer hide our hairiness under long pants anymore. Now we have the difficult choice of what hair removal technique will work best for you. Let's look at the most popular choices..
Shaving... When you shave you are cutting the hair off at the follicle. The hair starts to grow back in about 2 hoursand usually grows back thicker, darker and coarser. A lot of people experience ingrown haots when using a razor because we shave in one direction. Shaving needs to be done everyday and quite often does not fit into our daily schedule.
Waxing... Pulls the hair out from the root and once the hair is on the same growth schedule (typically takes two waxing cycles) it only needs to be done once a month. Hair grows back finer and iver time thins so less hair grows back. Exfoliating a few days before and after with a body scrub prevents ingrown hairs. Most people experience less ingrowns because trained professional waxe in the direction of the hair growth. If you are concerned about the pain the best time to wax is the week after your monthly cycle ends. Areas waxed usually include brows, lips, chins, cheek, underarms, legs and bikini. Prices start at $15 depending on the area.

Electrolysis... A very fine probe is inserted into each follicle destroying the germ cell that is responsible for hair growth. An expensive and time consuming method and not usually recommended for large areas with coarse hair. Electrolysis is best on fine, blonde, red or gray hairs.
Laser... Utilizes light to destruct the darker pigment in the follicle to inhibit hair growth. This is the most popular form of hair removal but it in not permanent and does not work on the finer, lighter pigment hair. It is also ver time consuming, required multiple treatments and is expensive.

Whatever option you choose, hair removal causes pain and trauma to the skin so it is very important to visit a trained skin care professional who not only removes the unwanted hair but treats and maintains the health of the surrounding skin, the last thing you want is hyperpigmentation of the skin.
