Carousel Rehearsal Diary: Song and Scenery

Community theater gets you involved in many ways.  Yes, you may have to act, you may have to sing, but you also may have to paint the scenery.  Last Saturday it was time for Gloria Schmidt to help paint the sky blue.  

We are all listening to the musical score in our cars. At rehearsals one of our more musically talented actors plays the score for us on a keyboard as we try to learn the words and timing. Tonight we will focus on the music and our new pianist will join us.  We have been trying to work with CD "rehearsal tracks" but it is not easy.

We are trying to memorize our parts without having to turn to the script.  We "block out" the scenes so everyone knows where to be and how to move.
