"Gardens of the World" Exhibit Opens at Portsmouth Abbey

"Gardens of the World" Photo Exhibit Opens at Portsmotuh Abbey Art Gallery

An exhibition of photographs by Michael V. and Rose Bartlett from their upcoming book, Bartlett's Encyclopedia of Garden Ornament, premiered at the McEvoy Art Gallery in the McGuire Fine Arts Building on the campus of Portsmouth Abbey School Saturday, Sept. 29.

Bartlett, a fifth-generation landscape gardener and 1972 graduate of Portsmouth Abbey, together with his wife spent a decade documenting some of the world's most extraordinary gardens. He died in 2009, but the book he and Rose painstakingly compiled will be published by David R. Godine in the spring of 2013.

The exhibit, "Michael '72 and Rose Bartlett: Gardens of the World," is now on display and will run through Saturday, October 20. The McEvoy Gallery is open to the public Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
