Library's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Saved Thanks to Volunteers

Library Christmas tree to shine again this Sunday.

Correction: A previous version of this article provided an incorrect date for the tree lighting. The ceremony will now be held on Sunday, Dec. 11.

Despite an earlier  at the Portsmouth Free Public Library, the annual tradition will now be held thanks to local volunteers.

The library's Board of Trustees previously decided to scrap the 28th tree lighting ceremony after not being able to find anyone to help. Volunteers have now come forward.

The event has now been rescheduled for this coming Sunday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m.

Rumor has it that Santa Claus himself will pay a visit, so bring the kids down and enjoy the Christmas spirit. Oh, and you can also tell Santa what you want for Christmas!
