Nationally Known Painter Exhibits Work at Portsmouth Abbey School

Tiverton's Don Cadoret has had his work appear in the White House, the Boston State House and several other museums and exhibits.

Flowering of Art, an exhibit of new works by nationally known artist Don Cadoret of Tiverton, will be showing at the McGuire Fine Arts Center at School from Friday, April 20, to Friday, May 11. A special opening night with the artist is set for April 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Included in the exhibit will be new works centered on the theme of flowers and how they are incorporated into the story. Cadoret, a self-taught artist, refers to his work as "story paintings" and has been working in a narrative style for more than 35 years. The artist is also an avid gardener and incorporates that passion into this grouping of new works that are highly detailed and saturated. He is known for his very colorful paintings and an obsessive amount of detail.

Cadoret's paintings have appeared in many exhibits at locations including the White House, Boston State House, the Cahoon Museum of American Art, Newport Art Museum, LeMusee D'Art Naif in Montreal, Hancock Shaker Museum, and the Frank Miele Gallery in New York City. He is also a founding board member of South Coast Artists, a non-profit organization that sponsors two Studio Tours each summer for the south coast of New England.
