Portsmouth Abbey Boys' Soccer Advances to Semifinals

Ravens defeat visiting Tilton School 3-2 on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.

In its first-ever appearance in the New England Prep School Championship Tournament, the Boys' Varsity Soccer Team defeated visiting Tilton School of New Hampshire, 3-2, in a quarterfinal elimination match on Wednesday.

Tied 1-1 at halftime thanks to a late goal from Mike Keane '12 (North Attleboro, MA), the tireless Ravens wore down the Tilton defense and surged to a 3-1 lead on goals by Sean Quinn '12 (Providence) and David Armenta '12.

Led by Captain Dylan Pexton '12 (Middletown) and Ford Bauer '12 (Portsmouth), the Abbey defense recomposed itself after Tilton's goal in the last 10 minutes narrowed the lead to one. Ravens' goalkeeper Andrew Lowis '13 (Bristol) stifled any hopes of a Tilton comeback over the final tense minutes.
