Re-broadcast of State of the State Program on Sakonnet Bridge Tolls

Information on State of the State broadcast on program on Sakonnet Bridge tolls

I wanted to let you know that John Carlevale from State of the State will be re-broadcasting the panel show discussing tolls on the Sakonnet Bridge. Dates and times are below.

Here is a great question that appeared in one of the blogs on this subject. "Do you believe that it is fair, moral, and legal to transfer bridge and road funding from the East Bay to the remainder of the state, when the money is derived from the RI gas tax, the RI income and sales tax, other RI taxes and fees, and from the Federal give back of federal taxes to RI for bridges and roads?  Wouldn’t that be the same as using the toll money to supplement the entire RI DOT budget for the entire State of RI, at the expense of the East Bay? "

No matter what part of RI you live in, I would hope that you would speak against this inequitable toll. We must all stand together. This is just the beginning of a very agressive agenda to add more taxes to Rhode Island citizens.

The Rhode Island General Assembly has decided to place a toll on the Sakonnet Bridge. Users of the bridge are predictably unhappy with this prospect as they find the user fee will be burdensome and excessive, not only to residents but also to non-residents and businesses providing services to residents and to the general flow of commerce to and from and across the island community. In researching this question, the guests have discovered some other matters, which underscore their concern and protest. PUBLIC HEARINGS HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED.
