Slow Down and Breathe
Drive as if your life and the life of others depended upon it! Slow down and Breahte!
Seems like everyone is in a hurry, is distracted and that isn't good - As evident with the tragic accidents on the Mt Hope and Sakonett Bridges these past few days. People are stressed over the holidays, the economy, "bridge tolls" and their own personal matters. However we shouldn't take those upsets and worries along as passengers. Add the many distractions of phones, consuming a meal, scolding children, or putting on make up while driving and its a wonder we don't have more incidents. We need to understand when we get behind a wheel of a car that we are making a contract with everyone who is on the road or in the near vacinity, that we will operate the car responsibly. As a martial art instructor it is my duty to explain weapon etiquet to students, so they don't hurt themselves or another student. A car is a convienence but it can also be a weapon when misused. My advice STOP before you start the car, take a few deep breaths. Know that there are going to be challenges during your ride don't get upset. Anger and anxiety only cloud your judgement. Be Present! It only takes a momentary laps in awareness to cause or get into an accident. The holidays are upon us please be here to enjoy them, even if you arrive late, at least you've arrived!Ms. Virginia Amaral
