Multivitamins give you energy. Many of us eat a traditional American diet packed with French fries, animal products, processed foods and soft drinks. What most of us don't realize, however, is that these can deplete us of many of our essential vitamins. On top of that, they aren't providing the vitamins and minerals needed when eating a meal. For example, eating meat on a regular basis depletes you of your calcium.....take note all those with osteoporosis!

Multivitamins boost your metabolism. Vitamins and minerals all play roles in your body to assist in cellular and metabolic function. Whether it's aerobic metabolism, energy for your brain or filtration for your kidneys, these are essential to your health. If you are eating a diet with deficiencies in these vitamins and minerals, it can contribute to development of chronic diseases.

Multivitamins protect your cells. Multivitamins are packed with certain vitamins that are antioxidants. This means that they block bad particles called "free radicals" from damaging your cells. If you want a natural pill to help keep you younger. Don't neglect a daily vitamin.

Multivitamins are great for your immune system. They are jam packed with vitamin C and zinc. These rejuvenate your cells, act as an antioxidant, and zinc in particular acts as an antimicrobial fighting off nasty infections. Deficiencies in these can be linked to Scurvy and a decrease in your bodies capacity to fight off diseases. (Those on antibiotics however should refrain from use of multivitamin with zinc, these can interact with each other)

Multivitamins are mostly water soluble and hard to overdose on. This means, if your body has all the vitamins it needs, the rest will be excreted in your urine and not be harmful. Vitamin A, E, D, and K are the only fat soluble vitamins. This means they can be stored in your body and be toxic at high amounts. Vitamin A and D particularly. Most multivitamins do not carry a toxic amount of these vitamins and are safe to take.

Multivitamins pick up where your quality of food leaves off. Unless you live on a farm in the country, the chances of you getting excellent quality of food are lower. Environmental toxins are in our soil, air and everywhere we look nowadays. Most food, unless 100% organic, is going to have some contamination from toxins. These toxins deplete us of the nutrients we need and may be depleted in the food we are eating. Taking a multivitamin will help ensure we are getting our daily dose of vitamins and minerals.

If you are interested in using multivitamin, talk to your Chiropractic Physician, Nutritionist, Naturopathic Physician, or organic food store. These individuals can point you to the best quality vitamin. Please note vitamins can interact with certain medications and a physician should be consulted if you have concerns about interactions.
