Bristol Man Charged with Second DUI in Portsmouth
Police said they found 57-year-old Stephen Leahy asleep in his car with the engine running.

A 57-year-old Bristol man is facing his second DUI offense after he was found slumped against his steering wheel while asleep in his running car in Portsmouth.
Police said they were dispatched to Park Avenue at Norseman Drive for a report of a suspicious vehicle and found Stephen John Leahy, 57, of 55 St. Elizabeth St., Bristol.
Police said Leahy was in the car with the engine running and the lights on. Officers also noticed his driver’s side mirror was broken and hanging from the car and the passenger side mirror was missing.

Police also saw a bottle of Mount Gay rum on the front seat and Leahy showed signs of intoxication. He failed a field sobriety test soon after.
Leahy was taken into custody without incident and was later released on personal recognizance. He was due to be arraigned Thursday morning in Second Division District Court.

Police also cited him for failing a field sobriety test.
Court records show Leahy was charged with DUI by Bristol police in 2012 and was sentenced to 10 hours of community service after pleading no contest to the charge. He was also fined, ordered to attend DWI school and his license was suspended for three months.
