Candidates want zero percent tax increase which is just not realistic.

As the upcoming election draws near, the phone polls, television ads and mail flyers are all the more frequent and annoying.  Before I draw my finals lines across the ballot I have a couple of questions.

I found it quite interesting that the flyer the Republicans sent out claims they want 0% property tax increase and will cut seniors & veterans property tax.   The town currently has a tax exemption for senior citizens and also for veterans.  So does this mean they want to increase those exemptions?  And how do they realistically plan on a 0% property tax increase when for one there are current union contracts in place  and also the mere fact of inflation and increases in things such as healthcare?  Or is this just an enticement to vote for them?  A zero percent tax increase is just not realistic.  The money still has to come from somewhere to balance the town’s budget so something somewhere would have to be cut.
