Police say a 2002 Mazda 626, operated by 53-year-old Fall River resident Ana Barbosa, was traveling east on Park Avenue near Gould Avenue just around 2:55 p.m.Â
At one point, the vehicle left the roadway, striking a mailbox, a parked vehicle with no one inside, a street sign and a utility pole before coming to a stop.Â
Barbosa, the vehicle's operator, refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.Â
The vehicle's operator might have closed her eyes while driving. "The operator stated she closed her eyes for a moment and lost control of the vehicle," said Lt. Brian Peters.Â
The crash remains under investigation. There was no indication of texting while driving, according to police.Â
