4th Annual 5K Race Walk for the Island

On Saturday, September 8th at 9 am, St. Columba's will kcik off its 4th annual 5K Run/Walk for the Island.

Racers will enjoy a fast course, measured by Ray Nelson, along scenic Indian Avenue with views out to the Sakonnet River. Timing and scoring is handled by +ORGANIZATON PLUS+ Road Race Management Services.

All those interested in racing or walking can preregister online until September 6th for $20 at www.stcolumbaschapel.org.

Registration on the day of the race will begin at 7:30 am and cost $25.00.

The first 150 registrants will receive Tshirts.

Families are welcomed to join the walk. Dogs on leashes are invited. There will be light refreshments offered following the race.

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female racers as well as the top woman and man in each age division.

Monies raised by the race/walk will benefit the church's outreach partners, including: Child and Family Services, Women's Resource Center of Newport and Bristol Counties, Seamen's Church Institute, Dr. Martin Luther King Community Center, Lucy's Hearth, McKinney Cooperative Shelter, Star Kids, Blessing Way, East Bay Community Action Program and Baby Steps.

St. Columba's is an Episcopal Church located at 55 Vaucluse Avenue in Middletown. The parish is a diverse and active one with a vibrant youth group. Reverend Erik Larson, the new rector, will begin his ministry on October 1st.
