The Portsmouth Gridiron Club will hold the second helicopter golf ball drop fundraiser before the first varsity football game on September 7, 2012 against Rogers High School. A helicopter from Bird’s Eye View Helicopters will hover over the Portsmouth High School football field at 5:30 p.m. and drop 1500 numbered golf balls representing $10 ticket holders. The ball landing closest to the pin in the ground wins $1,000, second place wins $500, third place wins $250. The fourth through tenth closest golf ball to pin wins $100.  Those purchasing $10 tickets do not have to be present to win. The majority of the proceeds from the helicopter golf ball drop will be used to help pay for a new turf field. The remaining money will be used to purchase equipment and provide scholarship money for the Portsmouth High School football program. Tickets can be purchased in Portsmouth at the Beach House, Clement’s Market Place, West Main Pizza, Domina’s Agway or online at www.myphsfootball.net.Â
