The Portsmouth Fire Department invites you to come in and take a look at its two new fire engines, as well as the other state-of-the-art firefighting and emergency medical service equipment.
Built in May of 2011, the two new fire engines are equipped as “rescue pumpers”. They are equipped with the latest in firefighting gear such as: 2,000 gallon per minute
pumps, Class A foam for structural firefighting, Class B foam for flammable liquid fires, and a variety of ladders. They also carry a full complement of medical equipment: Oxygen, medications, splints, back boards, and much more. They also are equipped with on-board generators to power over 2,000 watts of lighting and the on-board hydraulic pump for the Jaws of Life. These trucks are the Swiss Army knife of the Portsmouth Fire Department.
Also on display will be our 95 foot tall tower ladder truck, medical rescue trucks, and other equipment used in life-saving operations.
The station house will also be open for tours. Children may also visit with “Firefighter Phil”, our fire prevention robot.
