Food Bank In Portsmouth Receives $15,000 Grant
The money will be used to serve the needs of food-insecure residents of Portsmouth and surrounding communities, food bank organizers said.
PORTSMOUTH, RI — The St. John’s Lodge Food Bank in Portsmouth received a $15,000 grant from the Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust, food bank organizers said Tuesday.
The money will be used to improve the efforts of the food bank to serve the needs of food-insecure residents of Portsmouth and surrounding communities, food bank President Mary Anne Crittenden said.
"Recent cuts to SNAP and other government programs mean more of our neighbors are finding it difficult to feed themselves and their families," Crittenden said. "The generosity of the McBean Charitable Trust will help us meet this growing need in our community."
