Fundraiser: Flamingos Flock to First Yard as Part of Birthday Surprise

A Baldwin Drive resident got quite the surprise when she arrived home Thursday evening.

A Baldwin Drive resident got a "pink" surprise for her birthday this year.

Meg Kolb arrived home Thursday to find her yard covered in pink flamingos thanks to the Portsmouth High School Class of 2013.

The class is currently holding a fundraiser involving the bright, pink bird. Friends nominate other friends to have their yards covered in pink flamingos to raise money for the class.

All donations should be made payable to PHS Class of 2013 and can be left in an envelope taped to the front door.

If you prefer that your house not be flocked, homeowners have the option of  purchasing "flocking insurance" and the class will provide you with a certificate preventing the flamingos from roosting at your home.
