George J. Coite, IV earns Boy Scout's highest rank, Eagle Scout
Portsmouth's Boy Scout Troop 82 awards George J. Coite, IV the rank of Eagle Scout

George J. Coite, IV of Portsmouth, RI is the 130th recipient of Boy Scout Troop 82’s highest ran achievement, Eagle Scout. This honor was bestowed upon George at the August 2nd Eagle Court of Honor held at Common Fence Point Community Hall. The son of Cynthia Mello-Wolz and George Coite III, George is a recent Portsmouth High School graduate.
The culmination of earning the rank of Eagle Scout is the development, deployment and completion of a community project. Restoration of the dilapidated backup generator shed for the Portsmouth Fire Department was the focus of George’s Eagle Scout project. George’s interest in firefighting continues this Fall as he attends CCRI to earn an associate degree in Fire Science/EMT. Ultimately, George hopes to become a fire fighter.
George has been actively involved in scouting for over 12 years, since becoming a tiger cub with Portsmouth’s Cub Scout Pack 50 chartered by the VFW in Common Fence Point. Upon crossing over to Boy Scout Troop 82, George continued to be actively involved with Pack 50 as Den Chief the past six years. Simultaneously, George has also served as Troop 82 Troop Guide, Patrol Leader and Quarter Master. He was inducted into the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scout’s National Honor Society, as well as attended the White Stag leadership course and earned the gold patch of completion.
