Seven local lacrosse players, Caitlin Villareal (Portsmouth), Oona Pritchard (Middletown), Hailey Novis (Jamestown), Sarah Young (Portsmouth), Falynn McCartney (North Kingstown), Jackie Hagopian (Wakefield) and Maddy Blackburn (Portsmouth)) led the 2011 New England Girls High School Underclassmen All-American team to the Final Four of the Brine National Lacrosse Classic.

The New England team, coached by Bill Villareal of the Team Real Lacrosse Club in Portsmouth, recorded wins against teams from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Washington, DC, and Long Island as they worked their way to their semi-final showdown against Maryland.
