Michael Morse Promoted To Portsmouth Deputy Police Chief
Deputy Chief Morse is a 15-year veteran of the Portsmouth Police Department and recently served as the department's administrative captain.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — The Portsmouth Police Department has a new deputy police chief.
At Monday night's Town Council meeting, Capt. Michael Morse was sworn-in as the department's new second-in-command.
Morse is a 15-year veteran of the Portsmouth Police Department and recently served as the department's administrative captain. In the position, Morse oversaw the department’s detective division and the department’s administrative division, including: Prudence Island Public Safety, Harbormaster, Animal Control, Records, and the department’s reserve officers.

Morse holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Roger Williams University and a master’s degree in cybersecurity from the same school. Morse is also a graduate of the FBI New England Regional Command College, and the Roger Williams University Justice System and Training Institute Executive Development Course.
Morse was a previous member of the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and is a current member of the Joint Cybercrime Task Force.
