New Study Shows Portsmouth as High Achieving, Low-Spending School District
A new study examines how per-pupil spending affects student achievement throughout the country, including Portsmouth.

The Center for American Progress, a progressive policy research and advocacy organization founded in 2003, has released a new study on per-pupil funding.
Portsmouth School Committee chair Cynthia Perrotti shared a link to this study, which is the culmination of a yearlong effort to study the efficiency of the nation’s public education system and includes an attempt to evaluate the productivity of almost every major school district in the country.
According to the study, "low productivity costs the nation’s school system as much as $175 billion a year."
