Newport Woman Advised to Leash 'Maddy' the Dog

PORTSMOUTH, RI — Portsmouth's Animal Control Officer recently spoke to a Newport woman spotted running her dog, Maddy, off leash at the Gardner Seveney Sports Complex northwest field inside Glen Farm.

Jennifer Nicholson, of Newport, snapped the leash on the dog when she saw the officer and asked the ACO if she walked over because the dog was off-leash.

The ACO confirmed the dog is supposed to be leashed.

Nicholson said she will find another spot on Aquidneck Island to run her dog.

No charges were pressed.
