With past funding reaching Melville Elementary School in Portsmouth, local libraries, schools, and nonprofits are encouraged to propose visible, community-accessible projects by the Sept. 24 deadline. 
• Who won Thursday's RI high school games? We've got it covered (newportri.com) — Portsmouth High girls soccer rallied past Chariho 2-1, highlighted by goalkeeper Greyson Helie's 500th career save, and the girls volleyball team narrowly fell to Cumberland in five sets.
