PHOTOS: U.S. Polo Team Wins Against Chile 11-8

At its eighth appearance in the International Polo Series, the Chilean team lost to the United States on Saturday.

The U.S. polo team regained victory over its 2009 defeat to the Chilean team on Saturday with an 11-8 score at the polo grounds in Portsmouth.  Saturday's game marked the eighth time Chile has participated in the series.

Chilean polo players are considered among the world’s elite, including recent victories in the FIP world championship and the UK Queen’s Cup.

Before the match, Francisco Astaburuaga from the Chilean team explained that it is challenging to play overseas because the horses and the field are unfamiliar. The field at Glen Farm is shorter than the standard size, which requires the players to soften their swing, he said.
