Man allegedly steals ring worth $13K
Stephen Alix, 34, of 74 Mason Ave., Portsmouth, was arrested Friday, March 16, for allegedly stealing a ring valued at $13,000. A Pleasant Street resident told officers a ring was taken from the home on Jan. 25. The investigation led police to Alix, who had allegedly been in the home and knew the resident. Officers obtained an affidavit arrest warrant and arrested Alix during a traffic stop on Park Avenue. He was arrested and charged with larceny over $500.

Teen arrested after allegedly having relations with minor
Ascencio Gutierrez, 18, of 287 Worden St., Portsmouth, was arrested on Thursday, March 15, and charged with third-degree sexual assault on a minor. According to police, Gutierrez allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl during the week of March 5. In Rhode Island, the age of consent is 16. Gutierrez was arrested after turning himself in at the courthouse on Thursday.Â

Dispute in State Police parking lot leads to arrestÂ
, 23, of Newport, was arrested Saturday, March 17, at 4:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the State Police barracks on East Main Road. Portsmouth police were called to the barracks to investigate an apparent custody dispute.Â
Police found Baker and discovered the Newport man was wanted on a warrant issued by Second District Court for failure to appear at an ability to pay hearing. He was arrested and later transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI).Â
Newport man arrested for allegedly driving under the influenceÂ
Ethan Richardson, 36, of Newport, was arrested Sunday, March 18.Â
Police were called to investigate a vehicle operating erratically on East Main Road at Selina Lane. Police stopped the vehicle and detected a strong aroma of alcohol.Â
The operator, Richardson, apparently failed a field sobriety test and, after being transported to police headquarters, he allegedly refused to submit to a chemical test. Richardson was then charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and refusal to submit to a chemical test.Â
