Portsmouth Deputy Police Chief To Retire

PORTSMOUTH, RI — After nearly two decades with the department, Portsmouth Deputy Police Chief Maryanne Perry is retiring in April. Earlier this week, Perry was honored at by the town council.

"Congratulations to Major Maryanne Perry on her retirement!" the department wrote on Facebook, adding that Chief Tom Lee called Perry one of the most compassionate officers he's ever known.

Perry is Portsmouth's first deputy police chief. She has been with the department since October 1998.

On Monday, Perry was honored by the Portsmouth Town Council with a proclamation of congratulations thanking her for her years of dedication to the town.

"The Town Council recognizes your many accomplishments and congratulates and thanks you for your untiring efforts on behalf of our community," the proclamation reads.

Perry's official retirement date is April 26. Her replacement has not been formally announced at this time.
