Portsmouth High School Cheerleaders Win First Place at Interscholastic Meet
In a dazzling display of athletic ability, several schools took part in the latest Rhode Island Interscholastic Cheerleading meet, which was held at Rogers High School on Tuesday night.
Cheerleading requires a great deal of athletic skill, flexibility, and at all times, a smiling face. All elements were present on Tuesday night at as several squads cheered in the latest Interscholastic cheerleading meet.
Portsmouth High School's cheerleading team took first place!
The nine schools that participated were Tollgate, Tiverton, Cranston East, Pilgrim, Narragansett, Westerly, West Warwick, Portsmouth and Rogers.

Four judges who scored the meet in several different skill categories, including execution, stunts, pyramid, flow, creativity, enthusiasm and performance appeal.Â
Those scores were tallied for each school and while the official scores are not released, the schools were ranked from one to nine. Rankings determine what order the schools perform in for the state tournament.Â

The schools all performed with great pride and enormous amounts of enthusiasm. Â After they all had a chance to perform, there was a brief intermission to tally the results and then announce the teams rank on the night.
