Portsmouth Man Accused of Beating Child

Portsmouth Police charged Edmilson Albano Pereira, 33, of 74 Willow Lane, Portsmouth with second degree child abuse April 20 at 7:55 p.m.

Police said Pereira assaulted a juvenile on multiple occasions after an investigation.

The investigation was sparked after an incident in mid March when Pereira slapped the victim in the face.

An adult familiar to the child reported the incident to police.

Police obtained a warrant on April 17 and Pereira was arrested on April 20 when an officer spotted Pereira walking in his back yard.
