Portsmouth Man Arrested on Bench Warrant

PORTSMOUTH, RI—Douglas James Swartz, 50, of 9 North Drive, was arrested this week on a bench warrant, police said.

Officers picked him up at his home at 5:53 Wednesday morning.

Swartz had been charged with willful trespass but failed to show up in court to answer the complaint. As a result, the Second District Court issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

Failure to appear is a misdemeanor, police said.
