East Main Road Re-Opened After Repair Crews Contained a Gas Leak
A contractor ruptured a gas main Monday morning on East Main Road.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — A contractor ruptured a gas main Monday morning on East Main Road. Police were called to the scene around 10 a.m. National Grid was called but said the gas could not be turned off. Police closed the section of road from Hedly Street to Turnpike Avenue, until repairs could be made. The gas was contained around 11:30 a.m, police Lt. Albert Bucci said. And the section of East Main Road was re-opened.
