PORTSMOUTH, RI—Here are recent arrests from the Portsmouth Police Department.

A 16-year-old Portsmouth boy was arrested on Feb. 4 at 10:33 p.m. after police received a complaint on Feb. 1 that he assaulted a school staff member. His name is not being released because he is a juvenile. He was charged with Simple Assault and Battery.

On Feb. 5, Theresa Anne Schultz, 60, of Portsmouth, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. at home. She was charged with Domestic Simple Assault and Battery after a quarrel over cell phone bills. One of the witnesses used a cell phone to videotape the argument, police allege.

Danette R. McManus, 52, of Portsmouth, was arrested at home on Feb. 5 at 3:32 a.m. She was charged with Domestic Simple Assault and Battery and released on $1,000 personal recognizance. Police said they have responded to this house nine times.

At 9:56 a.m. on Feb. 5, police took Jesse Brian Urban, 30, of Fall River, Mass., into custody due to an outstanding warrant from the Middletown Police Department. He was arrested near the intersection of Locust Avenue and West Main Road where he was involved in a car crash. Urbans told police he was not injured. The car was towed.

Mark Alen DeMello, 28, of Tiverton, was arrested on Feb. 6 at 11:46 p.m. after police stopped his car on Route 24 at Hummock Road. He was charged with Driving under the Influence, his first offense.

Maria Iva Gonzalez, 35, of Newport, was charged with a felony drug offense (Possession of Schedule I,II,III,IV and V) and a misdemeanor for Driving under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol. She also was cited for Refusal to submit to a chemical test. A patrol officer stopped her car on West Main Road near King Charles Drive at 2:13 a.m. on Feb. 6. Police allege she was speeding and had been traveling 93 mph.

On Feb. 8 at 12:30 a.m., Brian Sean Manton, 53, of Swansea, Mass., was charged with Driving under the Influence, his first offense, and with Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. He was arrested near the intersection of Bradford Avenue and West Main Road after a traffic stop.
