UPDATED: Rep. Dan Gordon Files Taxes Late To 'Make Statement'

The state representative discussed his decision on talk radio Thursday.

State Rep. Dan Gordon (Dist. 71, Little Compton, Portsmouth and Tiverton) refused to file his 2011 tax return before the deadline Tuesday in a protest against government spending, reports GoLocalProv. 

On Tuesday, Gordon wrote on his Twitter page to followers:

Today is the tax deadline. I didn't pay. #ComeGetIt

Gordon is apparently critical of the state and federal government's spending practices, according to GoLocalProv. 

In a tweet Thursday, Gordon, a Libertarian, states he will discuss his decision "to not pay taxes" on WPRO's Buddy Cianci show today at 4:05 p.m.

Gordon later stated on Buddy Cianci's talk radio show that he filed his state and federal tax return on Thursday morning, two days after the deadline. Gordon told Cianci it was "to make a statement."
