Junior Varsity Girls' Soccer Team to Compete for State Title

The next game takes place this Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Portsmouth High School.

The Girls Junior Varsity Girls soccer team will play for the state championship this Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the high school.

With the top seed secured after an undefeated regular season, the team started its playoff run with a 6-0 victory over North Kingston in a quarterfinal match at PHS last Wednesday night. 

Kelley Coyne led the way with two goals, Maddie Chamard had a goal and two assists while Kristina Caragianis, Ali Guerrera and Laurel Murray each added goals.

On Friday night, the team beat Barrington in their semi final match. 

With a 1-0 lead at half time, the girls blew open a tight game with four second half goals on their way to a 5-0 victory.Emma Manosh, Natalie Yaw, Maddie Chamard, Hannah Wilkie and Ali Guerrera were the goal scorers while Ashley McMillan, Tara Mulcahy, Kelley Coyne and Laurel Murray recorded assists.

Coach Tom Chamard commented that the defense, which has been stellar all year, continues to play extremely well and has been instrumental to the teams success. 

The team will play for the JV State Title against East Greenwich this week at Portsmouth High School.
