Portsmouth Teen Dies While Hiking in New York
Family and friends of Noah T. Black are in mourning after the 19-year-old died Saturday after touching low-hanging electrical wires.

A 19-year-old Portsmouth native has died after coming into contact with low-hanging electrical wires while hiking with friends in Hyde Park, N.Y. on Saturday.
Hyde Park police said Noah T. Black, a student at the Culinary Institute of America, was hiking with three friends from school in the Franklin D. Roosevelt Historical Site when the group came upon the wires and Black reportedly came into contact.
Police got a report of a hiker who was possibly electrocuted and not breathing at around 1:17 p.m. and responders walked more than a half-mile into the woods to locate Black, who was immediately given CPR.

Responders also used an automated external defibrillator in an effort to resuscitate Black and he was transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center where he succombed to his injury, Hyde Park police said in a release.
Nobody else was hurt, police said.

The wires are believed to be owned by Amtrak and the investigation is ongoing. Hyde Park police are being assisted by federal officials along with Amtrak police detectives.
An autopsy was completed on Feb. 1 and the cause of death is still pending.
Police said foul play does not appear to play a factor in the incident.
