Regional Championship Finals To Be Held This Weekend

At 4 p.m., in the Regional Championship Finals, the two teams with the best overall win record this season will face off to determine the champion from among Newport's most formidable rivals in New England.

After six periods called chukkers, the match will conclude with a trophy presentation of the Regional Championship silver cup, autograph signing and cocktail hour to mingle with the players. A door prize will also be awarded to one lucky spectator.

Dating back more than 130 years in Newport, the polo matches are a unique and popular summertime tradition in the City by the Sea, open to the public. Audiences of several thousand spectators enjoy cheering for both teams.

The Polo Series will also host international teams this season from Ghana, France, Ireland, Scotland, Jamaica, England and Italy, as well as teams from major US cities and New England.
